Detective Constable Barbara Lawrence is a dedicated and accomplished officer serving with Cambridgeshire Constabulary. Her journey in law enforcement began in 2018 when she joined the force as a Demand Hub Operator. With a strong commitment to public service and a passion for making a difference, Barbara quickly advanced her career, moving to the Multiagency Safeguarding Hub in 2020, where she played a pivotal role in protecting vulnerable individuals.
Barbara’s expertise and drive for excellence led her to join Bedfordshire Police as a Forensic Imaging Technician, where she honed her skills in capturing and analysing critical evidence. In June 2022, her career took another significant step forward when she was selected for the prestigious Accelerated Detective Constable Programme. This rigorous program has given Barbara the opportunity to work across various departments, deepening her understanding of the complexities of policing and crime investigation.
Currently, Barbara is a key member of the Serious Crime Team, where she investigates some of the most challenging and impactful cases, including domestic abuse assaults, fraud, and stalking. Her dedication to justice and her meticulous approach to her work make her an invaluable asset to the team.
In addition to her investigative duties, Barbara is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion within the police force. She serves as the Lead for Cambridgeshire Constabulary’s Women of Colour in Policing (WoCiP) network, collaborating closely with colleagues from Bedfordshire and Hertfordshire Constabulary. In this role, Barbara is committed to representing and supporting minority officers, helping to drive the recruitment and retention of a diverse workforce that better reflects the communities they serve.
